Child Poverty Special 2 January 2004
child poverty
It was 100 years ago that Joseph Rowntree founded his charity for deprived families, with the aim of 'changing the face of England'.

A century on, child poverty still affects a third of British children. So can we really say that we are any nearer to eradicating deprivation?

With the first of the government's ambitious targets on child poverty coming up this year, Woman's Hour asks what poverty means in the 21st century, and just how well is it being tackled?

Martha spoke to people across the political spectrum, from those who put the theories into practice and the people whose very lives are most affected.
