the scale and excess is huge if you live below the poverty line
The wedding season is finally drawing to a close and if you were involved in arranging a wedding you鈥檙e probably still recovering from the expense!
But spare a thought for the bride and groom at a Kashmiri wedding in northern India, where the number of guests can exceed a thousand and the huge central feast of the two day celebration, the 鈥渨azwan鈥,听 typically involves 25 courses.
This is a region where 58% of the population live below the poverty line, so concern has been growing at the sheer scale and excess of these nuptials, and in particular the amount of food prepared for the event. India correspondent, Sanjoy Majumder met bride Fajir Geelani and her relatives at her wedding in Srinigar.
