A disease that affects 400,000 people in the UK - most of them women
You鈥檝e almost certainly heard of Cystitis, but Interstitial听Cystitis is probably totally unfamiliar. Despite it鈥檚 low profile a conservative estimate puts the number of people with IC in the UK at 400,000. Of these 90% are women.
IC is a chronic inflammation of the bladder wall that creates severe pain in patients. Its cause is not known and there is no cure.听
Woman's Hour talks to听a woman who has lived with the disease for 8 years and听Jenni talks to Consultant Urologist,听Mr Henry Lewi about what can be done to help.
