What's the connection?
Germaine Greer and Naomi Wolf are two of our most prominent feminist thinkers, and both have written about their fathers.Ìý Fifteen years after Naomi Wolf wrote "The Beauty Myth", she has now written a book about the great influence her father has had on her.
By contrast, Germaine Greer wrote about her father in rather moreÌýnegative terms – her book was called "Daddy, We Hardly Knew You".Ìý So what’s the connection between feminism and the father figure?ÌýIf a woman’s father has a big influence over her life and thinking, is that a positive force, or can it be overbearing for women trying to develop their own ideas?
