The Boy who was Turned into a Girl
成人论坛2 9.00pm Thursday 7th December 2000

Books:

Sexing the Body
Anne Fausto-Sterling, Basic Books, 2000.
A historian of science, Fausto-Sterling discusses the futility of the nature/nurture debate of sexually versus socially constructed gender. She is very critical about assigning gender simply into male and female, instead stressing that these are two extremes of a continuum.

Sex on the Brain
Deborah Blum, Penguin Books, 1997.
Blum retells the quest of scientists to prove that male and female characteristics are not social constructs but that there is a strong bias for our gender-typical behaviour. She recounts the experiments and the observations made to disprove the behaviourist's attitude of gender being purely environmentally determined.
