Charlton Athletic: Midfielder Alex Gilbey & striker Conor Washington join for undisclosed fees
Charlton have signed MK Dons midfielder Alex Gilbey and Hearts striker Conor Washington for undisclosed fees.
Gilbey, 25, has agreed a three-year contract, while Northern Ireland international Washington, 28, has signed a two-year deal with the newly-relegated League One side.
Charlton had been under a transfer embargo due to their ongoing financial and ownership issues.
But the EFL have allowed the club to bring in the pair.
Former Colchester and Wigan midfielder Gilbey scored 11 goals in 105 games in three years at MK Dons.
Washington, who featured for Sheffield United when they won promotion to the Premier League in the 2018-19 season, spent just one season with Hearts, scoring four goals in 22 appearances.
With Lyle Taylor, Charlton's joint-top scorer last season, leaving the club at the end of his contract, it was a priority for Addicks boss Lee Bowyer to bring in a striker.
"We have to bring in bodies and replace bodies that we've lost, so it's a good start," Bowyer told the club website.
"He's an international and someone with a lot of experience. We tried to bring him in last summer, but it just didn't work out for us, so I'm really pleased he's signed for us."
