Cameron Jerome's late winner sent MK Dons into the FA Cup third round and ended National League Barnet's dreams of another shock.

The former Stoke and Norwich striker turned Scott Fraser's fine cross home from close range with the Dons' first effort on target.

The Bees almost made a dream start when Ephron Mason-Clark pounced on a loose ball and stung the hands of Dons keeper Lee Nicholls in the first minute.

Regan Poole lashed an effort against the underside of the bar, and then picked out Stephen Walker who fired just over as Dons went close before the break.

Barnet, who sit 19th in the National League, were looking to take their second League One scalp after knocking out Burton in round one, and made life uneasy for their EFL opponents deep into the second half.

The Dons, who made seven changes for the tie, bossed possession and yet had not forced home keeper Scott Loach into a save before Scott Fraser did superbly to make room for a cross and pick out Jerome for the winner.

Loach's diving save denied Harvie a second in stoppage time before Jerome lifted a last-gasp golden chance over the bar, but a second would have been harsh on the battling hosts.
