Wales are one game away from a first World Cup appearance since 1958 after beating Austria at Cardiff City Stadium

Wales will play a friendly against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Sweden and Scotland had also been potential friendly opponents, with the outcome of Wales' World Cup semi-final play-off against Austria key to deciding who they would face.

Had they lost to Austria, Robert Page's side would have welcomed Scotland to Cardiff City Stadium.

But Wales' 2-1 win means they will face the Czechs, after play-off defeat by Sweden ended their World Cup hopes.

The winner of Wales and Austria's semi-final had originally been due to face the winner of the Scotland v Ukraine play-off semi-final on 29 March but, because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the play-off final has been postponed.

Scotland and Ukraine's fixture is now expected to be played in June, with the final set to follow in the same month.

The Football of Association of Wales (FAW) has already announced funds from the friendly against the Czechs would go towards the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The FAW said: "The Cymru men's national team will be making a donation to the appeal and the DEC will also run a bucket collection at Cardiff City Stadium.

"Any profit made by the FAW from the staging of the match will also be donated."
