Ian McCall has been appointed manager of Clyde.

The former Ayr United, Dundee United and Partick Thistle boss, 59, takes over the side sitting two points adrift at the bottom of Scottish League 2.

Defender Brian McLean left the manager's role in October, having been promoted from his role as captain earlier this year.

"It's been a long process but one which has delivered our number one choice," said chairman Gordon Thomson.

"In Ian, we have secured a manager who last season was working in the Championship, and left a team in the promotion play-off position. Although we spoke with a wide range of prospective candidates, Ian's enthusiasm, determination and plan to succeed shone through.

"It has been a deeply disappointing start to the season for the club, and we know much hard work is ahead. But we have confidence in Ian having the skills and experience to turn around our fortunes and steer us back to winning ways."

Clyde said McCall would take charge of Wednesday's training session with the side's next match at home to East Fife on Saturday.
