Wrexham rose to second in League Two courtesy of a 1-0 win at Swindon Town.
James McClean's 13th-minute strike, his first league goal for the Dragons, proved enough for the visitors - who had James Jones sent off late on.
Victory, their third in a row in the league, lifted Phil Parkinson's side above Barrow who drew 2-2 with leaders Stockport County.
Wrexham sign off 2023 with a trip to Walsall on Friday night before hosting Barrow on New Year's Day.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson:
"It's an outstanding win for us. We had other chances to kill the game, second half the kid (Lewis Ward) has pulled off some great saves.
"We just got on with the job today and it's a magnificent win for us.
"It's a really important three points for us on our travels, especially with the disruption we had to face."
