Michael Flynn: Swindon Town owner Clem Morfuni has no regrets over manager's departure

Swindon Town owner Clem Morfuni said he did not regret the departure of manager Michael Flynn weeks after giving him a contract extension.
Flynn was sacked on Monday after just over eight months in charge and only six weeks after signing a new long-term deal at the League Two club.
Swindon are 15th in the table and have won three of their past 15 matches.
"I don't regret anything. At the time it was the best decision that we needed," Morfuni told 成人论坛 Points West.
"We didn't want to lose the manager at the time - we were flying - and there were a couple of clubs that were after him so we wanted to make sure we secured him.
"But obviously the results didn't work two months later and we had to make a change. This is a results business. It's quite ruthless and we had to do what we had to do."
Flynn was appointed at the end of last season but his departure means the Robins are on to their fifth manager since June 2022, after the departures of Ben Garner, Scott Lindsey, Jody Morris and now Flynn.
Morfuni also confirmed that Gavin Gunning has been given the interim head coach position until the end of the season.
Gunning is the club's development phase loans manager and has taken charge of three games previously in between managerial appointments.
"Gav has been in the building for two to three years, he's the right option, he has a good rapport with the players, they will play for him which is really good," Morfuni said.
"He's the right appointment and we've got to make sure we support him. I think he's right for the job."
Swindon are currently eight points away from the play-off places and next face Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
After reaching the play-offs in 2021-22, the club missed out on a spot in the top six last term and Morfuni said he was not ruling out the prospect of still challenging for promotion this season under Gunning.
"I will support him 100% - we just need to make sure results go our way," Morfuni added.
"There are 54 points to play for, I'm always hopeful and always pushing for it.
"We know what we need to do. I haven't given up hope (of promotion); we need to push for it."
