Kidderminster Harriers boosted their hopes of National League survival with a 3-1 win at Chesterfield to end the already-promoted champions' 54-match unbeaten home run.

Harriers took a sixth-minute lead when Ashley Hemmings poked home.

But the hosts equalised in the 31st minute when Matt Preston tried to clear the ball from a cross and turned it into his own net.

Harriers restored their advantage three minutes into the second half when Zak Brown tucked away the rebound after Ryan Boot had made an excellent one-on-one save.

Defender Preston then sealed matters by scoring at the right end.

He supplied the finish just before the hour mark after Chesterfield were unable to clear from a long throw-in.

Boss Phil Brown has lost just three of his 15 National League games in charge since being appointed in January - but after four draws in a row sandwiched between two defeats, this leaves Harriers in 21st, now just a point behind Wealdstone with three games left.

But Wealdstone still have six games to play, with at least two games in hand on all the four clubs below them.
