Carlisle United head coach Mike Williamson said it will take "time and patience" to turn their form around after a difficult start to the season.

The Cumbrians won 2-0 away at Swindon Town in Williamson's first game in charge after he joined from MK Dons two weeks ago to replace Paul Simpson.

But Carlisle have lost their last two matches and sit 22nd in League Two having suffered seven defeats, which is more than any other side.

"It’s going to take time and patience ultimately, of course it will," Williamson told ������̳ Radio Cumbria.

"But we need points because obviously it’s a difficult place in the league to be and it creates its own anxiety.

“We can talk process until we’re blue in the face but really making sure we’re confident on the field and we’re getting that points return, that’s the only remedy of settling the nerves down."

Williamson said both he and his staff "knew what the job entailed" when they arrived at Brunton Park.

"It’s going to take time," he added. "We obviously want it as immediately and as fast as we possibly can.

“We’ve got every confidence that we’re going to get there, it’s just how quick can we get there.

“There is an anxiety around the place and the boys have responded immensely.

“But until we see consecutive wins and points and start to climb that table it’s always going to feel uneasy.”

Carlisle travel to Colchester United on Saturday.
