Northampton Town defenders Patrick Brough and Ali Koiki are facing lengthy spells on the sidelines because of injury.

Brough was sent on as a 70th-minute substitute in Saturday's League One game at Huddersfield Town but suffered a fractured leg.

Despite that, he stayed on the pitch and completed the game, which the Cobblers won 3-1.

Koiki has not played since going off during the 0-0 draw against Burton Albion on 31 August - when he was replaced by Brough - and boss Jon Brady said he would be out for "several months" with a muscle injury.

On Brough's injury, Brady told ������̳ Radio Northampton the 28-year-old would be seen by a specialist to assess the full extent of the injury.

"It's a mark of Broughy [that he stayed out there]. He is no nonsense, he's all for the team and he's an incredible character," he said.

"It puts a dampener on the result when you get a player who is so committed to the group and that happens.

"We wanted him to come off but he stayed out there and hobbled round. It's gutting for us all but we wish him all the best."

The win at Huddersfield was arguably Northampton's best result of the season so far.

"I was pleased with the commitment, pleased with the bravery and the players executed really well," Brady said.

"If you keep being consistent, that really helps and allows you to keep adding personality to the game."

Northampton are at home to Mansfield Town on Saturday before a run of eight games in league and cup next month.

"October is a heavy game month and everybody in our squad will be needed," Brady added.
