Boston United have revealed goalkeeper Cameron Gregory broke his jaw in the same incident that earned him Saturday's red card against Altrincham.

The 24-year-old was sent off five minutes after the break at Moss Lane after "colliding" with Altrincham striker Justin Amaluzor.

But the National League club now say he will be "sidelined for an indefinite period" after it was discovered he had sustained a broken jaw.

While his team-mates fought back from 2-0 down to get a point, Gregory was taken for treatment at Wythenshawe Hospital and remained in Manchester Royal Infirmary over the weekend.

On-loan Rochdale keeper Ellis Craven deputised on Saturday and is expected to stay between the sticks for Tuesday's trip to Gateshead, for which Gregory had already received an automatic suspension.

Gregory was part of the Boston side promoted via the National League North play-offs in May to win back their place in English football's fifth tier.
