Cardiff Devils consolidated top spot in the Elite League with a 5-2 home victory over Fife Flyers on Friday.

Zach O'Brien took less than a minute to give Cardiff the lead to the delight of the majority packed into the Vindico Arena, but Michael Cichy soon had Fife level.

After that tight opening period, Devils romped away in the second with Ben Davies twice finding the net either side of a Cole Sanford strike.

Daniel Kren啪elok did pull a goal back for Flyers on the powerplay, only for Sanford to grab his second of the night as Devils pulled away again in the third to seal victory.

Friday's game marked the start of 'Homecoming Weekend' as Devils celebrated 10 years to the day that the four Canadian owners - Steve King, Brian Parker, Craig Shostak and Kelly Hughes - attended their first home game in Cardiff.

More than a hundred of their compatriots had travelled over for Friday's sold-out game at the Vindico Arena to join in the celebrations.

A busy weekend continues for Devils as they travel to Nottingham Panthers on Saturday in the Challenge Cup (19:00 BST), before returning to Elite League action on Sunday at home to Dundee Stars (18:00 BST).
