Alex Walmsley: St Helens prop handed downgraded one-game ban for 'dangerous contact'
St Helens prop Alex Walmsley's dangerous contract suspension has been downgraded to one game on appeal, although he will still miss the derby with Wigan Warriors on Friday.
Walmsley's tackle on Alex Sutcliffe in last week's 40-8 win over Leeds was initially rated Grade C by the Rugby Football League match review panel.
He admitted to dangerous contact but contested the 'reckless' grading.
The independent tribunal agreed to lower it to a 'careless' B grading.
Referee Liam Moore sin-binned the 30-year-old at the time and gave a Leeds penalty.
Rhinos prop Tom Holroyd and Salford centre Kallum Watkins were both handed Grade A dangerous contact penalty notices, which although going on record do not carry a suspension.
