Women's Rugby in Staffordshire

This sport is growing by the minute! It鈥檚 now the fastest growing sport amongst females. Things like England鈥檚 world cup victory in 2002 really helped to swell the interest and new teams have appeared up and down the country.

Some of the local clubs in and around Staffordshire:

Newcastle Ladies Rugby Club

This team has been going since the end of 2003. A few girls from the Staffs Uni team got together with a few more from Leek RUFC and word spread leading to the formation of the club.

There are 18 regular players in team but many had never played rugby until they joined Newcastle. They鈥檙e playing in West Midlands League 3.
