Pugin, driven by deep personal beliefs, had only the best local suppliers of materials to furnish and decorate this church. Thanks to his work here and elsewhere in the county as well as further afield, Pugin has become recognised as the leading force in the gothic revival of church architecture. Local historian and writer Father Michael Fisher has recently completed a book on the designer's important role and his amazing creativity in architecture.
