For many people one of the most stressful, worrying, and traumatic experiences they will go through is their driving test. A lucky few sail through first time without any problems, but some people have to try and try again before finally scraping through. But everybody has to pass at some point if they are going to drive legally in the UK. Sarah Cartlidge from Bentilee took her first test 11 years ago, when she was 18. She was very nervous, and failed on reversing round a corner - one of the most dreaded manoeuvres for learner drivers. She was so traumatised by the experience, she didn't want to get behind the wheel of a car again. But with her husband working night shifts, the family car was sitting doing nothing on her drive during the day, and Sarah finally gave into pressure from her kids, who were fed up with taking the bus to school. So early this year, Sarah signed up with Stoke-on-Trent driving instructor Rob Matthews, who runs the Bat Out Of L driving school, and she picked up where she left off all those years ago. She overcame her fear of driving, learned about all the bits under the bonnet, and practised and practised her reversing, until she was ready for her driving test this November. 成人论坛 Radio Stoke joined Sarah and Rob in the car on her last lesson before taking her test, as she attempted the reverse around the corner for the last time.
