Canoeing is a water sport and can involve a sprint, a marathon or... a slalom.
The slalom is a route down rapids where the canoeist has to move between the gates. The points are scored by going through the gates without making contact and time penalties are added on for mistakes.

Canoeing can be a team event in a multi-carrying canoe and also individual kayaks. Canoeing can keep you fit as well as you having fun. Most of the clubs in the area cater for adults and children of all abilities.

Canoeing is not just a hobby; some Staffordshire paddlers have gone onto to represent Great Britain in competitions - including Laura Blakeman, Lizzie Neave and Mark Proctor. Blakeman and Neave are European gold medallists winning the women鈥檚 team canoe slalom earlier this year along with Nottingham鈥檚 Louise Donington.
All three of these paddlers mentioned train with the Stafford and Stone Canoe Club. However you can have your pick of clubs across the county with there being so many to choose from. Including ones in Trentham, Tamworth, Burton and Cannock.听

Most of the clubs offer taster sessions so you can see if your place is on the water or under it although learning to capsize is often a must!
Equipment is included in the membership fee or available to hire.
The yearly fees range from 拢27 to 拢40 making it a lot cheaper than most gyms, with the added bonus of excitement...!
