The service of Thanksgiving for Gemma Adams took place at St Peters Church in Rushmere St Andrew Church on the 15th of February 2007.

It was attended by around 150 people who heard the service led by Reverend Robin Spittle, along with school memories from Roz Coe, Gemma's favourite teacher and family memories from her uncle, Robert Jenkins.

Close family friend Mick Ellis wrote the following poem which he read out during the service.

"Gemma's Gift"

I opened up the paper
And what did I see?
Gemma's awesome smile
Shining up at me!

Warm enough to soften
An old cynic's heart,
Bright enough to chase away
The scariest dark.

I saw laughter in her eyes
A hint of mischief there,
Colours of the sunlight
Reflecting in her hair.

A smile that will not age,
A smile that will not fade,
A smile that said,
"Come hold my hand
You needn't be afraid."

And always in the future
That's the picture I will see,
Gemma's awesome smile
Shining up at me!

The service finished with a rendition of 'Up Where We Belong', sung by her cousin Claire Jenkins.
