Peace be upon you, my name is Kiran and this is my鈥
What is the Urdu for husband?
Ashir
Miyan.
Kiran
Miyan, oh OK, sorry.
Peace be upon you, my name is Kiran and this is my husband Ashir. So we speak two languages at home, English and Urdu. So Ayan really loves speaking Urdu. Whereas, since Alayha was born she has seen Ayan talking at home it has really helped her speak quite early on and they talk to each other in Urdu.
Ashir
Ayan has got a flamboyant personality. He's very energetic. So if he wants to talk about cars, you are talking about cars.
Kiran
She copies him. She just follows her brother. So I think it's really beneficial for a younger child when he or she sees that the older sibling is speaking in Urdu. She copies everything he does. Just following, taking his lead. The way that they learn is by playing and it really helps in developing their speech skills, communication skills and just the way they interact with each other and other kids.
Ashir
Whether they're playing or messing about or whether they're teasing each other.
Kiran
Or whether they're fighting.
Ashir
Yeah fighting. You know, it's all in Urdu.
Kiran
I feel it brings us closer as a family as well. It's just nice to see them speak in Urdu.
