It's amazing watching your baby grow, it all happens so fast, and it's incredible the way that little brain is making connections too.
In the first few years, the right side of the brain develops really quickly, as it's mainly responsible for instincts and controlling emotions, whilst the left side, which deals with language, is a lot slower to get going.
You can see this in the way your little one reacts to things. When they're around eighteen months to two years, they really want to start chatting, but they often can't quite make themselves understood. It's frustrating, and when they feel strong emotions, (which they do a lot don't they?) they don't have the words to express how they feel, so they do that the only way they know how.
When they are between two and three though, the left side of the brain begins catching up. That's when they understand how to put more words together in sentences, so that they can explain what they're thinking and they'll start expressing their emotions using words鈥 and other ways too.
