"I'm a fairly normal sort of guy, I suppose. I value family life and I enjoy cooking. My children might say that I'm quite a wizard in the kitchen. I'm also a keen photographer.
Recently, I was in Cardiff photographing a veterans' parade. Seeing the old soldiers proudly marching with their standards and listening to the band took me back to the time when I was a serving soldier.
I was 16 years old when I took the Queen's shilling and here I am 32 years later. Times have changed a lot since then and the world is a much more dangerous place now.
These days, I teach young TA soldiers the principles of leadership. Many of them have seen action in Iraq and Afghanistan. There they work alongside our regular soldiers as one army. I'd like to think the work I do helps them to be better soldiers.
So let's forget about how they got to be there and give them the support they so rightly deserve. I hope that they too will one day be taking part in veterans' parades."
