"When I moved in with Huw, we were strangers but after a few late nights comparing drinking bruises and women scars we weren't.
One night he told me about the night he was burgled when he lived in Manchester. The sat him in the corner facing the wall and held a gun to the back of his head and they took everything: furniture, electricals, keepsakes, the log. When they left he was so relieved just to be alive, he didn't care about what was stolen. In fact he said it made him feel free of the baggage of possessions and of life's paraphernalia.
So now he gives his things away. The last time we met up he gave me his favourite shoes becausse he knew I liked them. They don't fit me anymore but I keep them in the bottom of my wardrobe to remind me that life isn't about things, it's about people."
