When you visit Beamish Open Air Museum, your experience is made all the more authentic and enjoyable by the "real-life" people who are driving the trams, working in the shops and getting on with their day-to-day life in the village.

Many of these characters are volunteers, and we're on the lookout for more people to come forward to don a fancy hat or a smart jacket, and get into the swing of the 1913 lifestyle.

As a Beamish volunteer, you can get involved in all sorts of different activities, whether it’s showing people around in fancy-dress, or doing more behind the scenes work, digitising or archiving collections, helping down on the farm or doing administrative work where necessary.

Or showing off the Masonic Hall.

You don't have to know anything about the era or have any particular experience – we're simply looking for keen, enthusiastic people who have a passion for the North East and can help to share that great heritage with thousands of visitors every year.
