³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Trust - Richard Tait reappointed ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Trustee

Culture Secretary Andy Burnham has announced that Richard Tait has been reappointed a Trustee of the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳.

A former ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Governor, Richard transferred to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Trust upon its formation on January 1 2007. His term of office will now run until July 31 2010.

Sir Michael Lyons, Chairman of the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Trust, said:

"I am pleased to be retaining Richard Tait on the Board for a further two years. Richard is fiercely committed to helping the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ deliver quality programmes and journalism for the public who own and pay through their licence fee and his substantial experience of broadcasting is a great asset."

Richard Tait said:

"The Trust has already proved that it has an important role to play in maintaining the high standards of public service broadcasting in Britain and I am glad to serve on it for another two years."

  1. Richard Tait CBE is Professor of Journalism and Director of the Centre for Journalism Studies, Cardiff University. He was previously Editor-in-Chief of ITN (1995–2002) and Editor of Channel 4 News (1987–1995). Prior to this, Richard worked for the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ where he edited Newsnight, The Money Programme and the 1987 General Election results programme. He is Vice-Chairman of the International Press Institute and a Fellow at both the Society of Editors and the Royal Television Society.
  2. Richard was appointed to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Board of Governors in August 2004 and transferred to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Trust upon its formation on January 1 2007. His term of office was due to end on July 31 2008 but has now been extended to July 31 2010.
