There are a range of processes involved in the manufacturing of plastic products.
Injection moulding
Injection moulding is a manufacturing process that is commonly used to create a multitude of plastic products. The process is similar to die casting metals. Molten plastic is injected under pressure into a cavity mould and then cooled. The process is popular because it can produce large volumes of complex shapes and components easily, cheaply, and efficiently.
3D Printing
3D printing is a relatively new technology. A model or template for object to be created is first scanned or recreated in computer-aided design software (CAD). This information is relayed to the printer which builds up shapes by melting plastic and printing it in layers while in liquid form to create a three dimensional object.
