Sonority (timbre)
Description
Sonority is another word for timbre. The timbre or sonority of an instrument or voice is the colour, character or quality of sound it produces. Timbres were often chosen by Romantic composers to create a specific effect. This video outlines how instruments can be used to exploit the range of timbres available, using Saints-Sa毛ns 鈥楧anse Macabre鈥 as an example.
