Loch Lomond: wild camping
Description
The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is introduced. Various forms of camping are popular in the park, ranging from formal campsites with provision for motor homes to wild camping. In Scotland the Land Reform Act allows informal camping and wild camping to be carried out responsibly across Scotland. Hebe Carus from the Mountaineering Council of Scotland explains how to camp responsibly and minimise impact to the environment.
Classroom Ideas
Debate land-use conflict in the National Park and other locations. Consider the rights and responsibilities of people using the park and discuss the pros and cons of different types of camping. Use as a resource for outdoor education.
