It is very clear that the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ will not be starting a regular service for years while Sky are building a significant subscription base with a dedicated 3D channel.
Even today a large proportion of the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ output is not even in HD and even less in surround sound. The News and all local output is still in SD.

The problem is the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ is just not delivering the service they should. At one time the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ were leaders in delivering new technology but now they seem to be dragging thier feet. As I said thier adoption of HD has lagged behind demand and the same is happening in 3D. 3D is now common place. Why do the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ need spend money on delivering to cinemas when they could be delivering to our homes.
Actually steroscopic TV was first demonstrated in the 1940s by Baird. Thats where it started.

Please could you confirm if this true?
I was kind of hoping that the whole evening of the proms concert would have been broadcast in 3d. Also I have not seen any advertising of this event on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳1 or any other mainstream ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ TV or Radio.
