Life on the shoot

Of all the travel shoots I have been on this has been one of the most fun. It could be Matt's calm, patience and gentle direction, or Keith's super agreeable mood and hilarious jokes, or maybe it's Zubin's mischievous streak, or Bruce's capacity to get us all discussing our deepest thoughts on how to reorganise society or Dudu's endless tongue-in-cheek stories about how he always catches the biggest fish or handled cayman with his bare hands (he has all the scars to prove it, but do we believe him?).

Maybe it's just the fact that we are travelling one of the most beautiful areas of the world and from early morning until late at night we are discovering new things about this world, even if that sometimes means being amazed at the size of the blood-sucking mosquitoes that plague the boat every evening or at the sounds coming out of the jungle in the early morning and late evenings.

We have been lucky to be staying on the Spectrum, a beautiful big boat, a cabin for each of us and guaranteed fresh fish caught in the river every day for lunch or supper. Our commute into 'work' in the mornings will typically involve a 10-minute ride on a speed boat and with the cool wind in our hair we regularly spot egret, fish eagles, houazins, squirrel monkeys, river dolphins and so many other birds.
Imagine seeing that every morning on the tube! But the best thing of all has been the warm welcome we have been given by the river communities we have been staying with.
