Just to keep you up to date with what's going on in the worlds of Formula 1 and the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳, we thought it was worth letting you know that ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sport has won a second award for its Formula 1 coverage in 2009.

The Monaco show won in the face of stiff competition from both within the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ and outside.

The other contenders were ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sport's 'Magic Monday' at Wimbledon, Channel 4's Cheltenham Gold Cup, the Ashes on Channel 5, the Isle of Man TT on ITV4 and Channel 4's coverage of the Volvo Ocean Race.

The judges praised the "genuinely accessible coverage of this A-list event" and singled out presenter Jake Humphrey as "a real find for the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳".

They went on: "The brief at this hectic fixture was simple: 'live coverage from everywhere'...

"The roving reporters impressed with their interview coups, with Martin Brundle alone happening across Prince Michael of Kent, Jenson Button and his dad, plus former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell - even if Brundle did introduce her as Bernie Ecclestone's daughter.

"But the real scoop was an interview with the FIA president and the chance to break the news of an F1 agreement designed to draw the line under a season of political wrangling."

Broadcast magazine describes its awards as "one of the most hotly anticipated events in the industry's calendar, recognising and rewarding the UK's most groundbreaking and successful TV shows".

Thoroughly deserved award, the opening intro for the Monaco GP was excellent, along with the rest of the coverage. Well done Jake and everyone else behind the scenes putting in all the hours to make such outstanding coverage. You guys have your work cut out improving on last year's efforts, but I'll know you'll give it your best shot, can't wait until the season starts!

That's great, Andrew. Well done to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ team.

Now how about a blog that talks about the actual issues of F1 such as the Ferrari launch or the sneaky shot of the Williams car?

But once again, congratulations on the award. You have a great TV team!

Well done to all concerned. Richly deserved.

What phrases would one need to use to search on You Tube for this - it's 'not available in my area'?

Congrats ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳! Well deserved. Hope you win more awards for the best F1 coverage since 1996!

That was a rather epic movie! Definitely deserved to win!

    Well done everyone. Thoroughly deserved

Congrats, well deserved and not just for the Monaco bit as the entire season was covered fantastically.

Excellent - another reason to remember a wonderful event. Who could forget the hugely entertaining finale with a victorious Button having to run to the podium after parking his car in the wrong place - that alone made excellent TV footage.

Well deserved award. Coverage has been excellent since returning to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳. Looking forward to even better and even more fun coverage next season.

By the way, DO MORE FOR MOTOGP. PLEASE.

For me, Brazil quali was the best.

If I had to pick one guy who was outstanding then it has to be EJ for hand-picking garage personalities a la Brundle's pitwalk. He made that show worth watching instead channel flicking on prime time telly.

Best moment was at one GP EJ getting Schumi straight onto ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ without having to arrange it via PR personnel. Not many TV companies could do that.

Special mention to Jake was richly deserved after a decade of kids telly which by now is well worth the effort!

As ever, keep up the good work ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳

It feels me with great pride to see the bbc being recognised for there ecellent coverage of such a prestigous event. roll on more brilliant coverage of the 2010 season.

Great to see the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s coverage rewarded after a couple of excellent years on ITV. I must admit, I though the opener (as shown above) was absolutely awful and one of the worst things that the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ team did last year, but clearly the judges had a different view. I suppose that's what makes the coverage so good - something for everyone.

  • Comment number 14.

Yeah, great. Making cars marginally less boring gets an award. Shame about stealing the MotoGP (men on motorcycles, not little girls in dodgems) from the pro's at Eurosport and completely messing it up, both in terms of coverage and 'personalities'.

I think that the coverage from ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ has been tremendous all year.
Jake in my view has proved to be an outstanding presenter after what i thought was a shaky start for the first few GP. It's nice to see good coverage of the sport i love after it being in the abissmal hands of ITV. The only good thing to come from there is Brundle and Kravits.
    Keep it up BEEB

    Well done the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳!

I was over the moon when i found out that F1 was coming back to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳.

    Well deserved award.

    Well done guys,

Jake Humphrey as "a real find for the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳".

He sure is, top man. The race that he did in the Lotus was very good, he was exellent all season.

    Thanks....

Whilst I'm happy the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ have F1 back, for me the star is still Martin Brundle - I’m sorry but I actually find Jake Humphrey a little too self gratifying.

I tune in to watch F1 not a single mans quest to sensationalise the so called scandal and off track news then again this is normal for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ these days.

I didnt think ITV's we'll carry on montage on the last show could be topped. I've watched/attended big championships, AFC final, two world bowls and a superbowl, but the tv red button coverage of Brazil had the same intense feeling I could almost say I was there, it was that good.

PS ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ producers dont improve or change it or "handle" Eddie, keep EJ and DC falling out dont coordinate thier wardrobe just leave them as they are; 3 blokes dumped in the paddock- the jammiest people in TV!

    PPS Well done!

Great coverage, the presenters in the main are really good, but i am not sure how much more of J H presenting style,i'm 42 and really do not like being talked to as if i'm 5!!! He may be a "real find" but personally i would love it if he got lost!
