I thought we would have seen 89. However, keeping to the options. I'd probably say that even last years race may be an option (it had a great story).

Though, for me, it's between: last year; 85 & 90. I'd go for 90 (with it being the 500th GP). Though I'd be happy with any of the five, in all honesty.

1990 pick of the bunch in my opinion. Probably Piquet's last great drive and a very exciting battle with Mansell at the end.

2009 a "superb race"?

What are you on about?

There have been many, many better races in Australia than 2009. 2008 was one of them - only 6 cars finished if I remember correctly! The only reason you're showing 2009 is because you can trumpet your own ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ team.

But I realise we get no say in the matter, so I look forward to whatever highlights you offer..

1985 race please, for all the action you describe. Last year's race was not a "classic" and I'm sure we all have this stored ourselves anyway.
It's nice to watch the older stuff and remember the times when overtaking was possible, drivers had to change gear manually, no powersteering, turbos and 1000bhp!

I'll pick 1985, as i havent seen that one.

I would like to see the classic title deciders of 1986 and 1994 when both of our great english drivers were robbed of the world championship. 1991 was a good race until Senna rammed Mansell off the track.

Melbourne 2003.

Brilliant race with variable weather conditions. Raikonen and Schumacher had a memorable scrap and Montoya spun to give Coulthard the eventual win.

Very good race.

85 and 90 both sound great - 85 just wins for me.

Of those, 2003 is my favourite race - however seeing as I'd like to see full highlights rather than just a short clip, my shout goes for 1995, purely for Murray's brilliant reaction to DC stuffing it into the wall.... "and into the pitlane....arghhhhhh"

1990 for me. The opening laps with Senna and Mansell 1st and 2nd were great.

My picks are either 85 (from my favourite F1 era - the crash, bang, wallop mid-80s turbo cars), or 90 as a chance to see some great drivers in action - any race in which the top 6 on the grid are Senna, Berger, Mansell, Prost, Alesi and Patrese has got to be worth seeing.

Whilst neither might be considered 'classics' in the true sense of the word, they both have a good story and go a long way to explaining people's obsession with Formula 1, however dull it may seem to the non-fanatics!

1990 sounds a good one, I'll opt for that.

But i would be happy any of the others. Apart from the 2003 race even though it was a great race it is just simply it was on ITV and you wouldn't get a 30 minute highlights programme

I'll vote for 1985, It was a great race to watch. 1990 was also good as was 2009 but the other 2 were not so.

WOuld love to see 2009 as i missed it first time around. But 2003 wuld be awsome as well.

I miss Adelaide. I've got it on an old race sim, and it's a real challenge; a busy track that rewards when you get it right. The long back straight sucks you in to overdoing the hairpin. I've got Melbourne too on another sim, which has its moments, but it's just not got the complete package.

My preference? 1985. I remember there was a real buzz at the time, and if I recall right it was a time where, had '85 been no good, there was a chance there'd be no Aus86.

So 1985 it is.

Seen them all, except the actual full highlights of 1991. I saw it once(at the actual time it originally aired), and I remember a musical montage at the end if it.

Last year was amazing but will go for 1995 in Adelaide, a track I still miss. Great race with Hill winning and a Footwork on the podium!!

Tough 1 to call, thanks for the 2003 one Andrew you obviously were taking notice of my suggestion! It's between 1990 and 2003, but I'd go for 1990 as I havent seen the full race highlights ever.

What about 2002?!?! Massive first corner crash, many other retirements, 2 disqualifications, 8 finishers and 5th for Webber in the Minardi! That was a classic grand prix.

Out of the 5 choices I am going to go for 2009. That also was an epic race and a 1-2 for Brawn GP!

1995 would be nice to see, as well as 1993 i think. 2003 was a great race, i remember Schumi's bargeboard coming off.

I also think it's a waste of an option to keep including last year's races as most of us will be able to remember them.

I think this service will be much improved if the selections are based on 5 of the best from history, rather than 4 of the best + last year.

Ooooh. Gonna have to go with 1990 - although 85 was a corker. 96 was dull apart from DC's shunt and 2003 and 2009 are hardly classics.

95 is my choice. What a crazy race that was! I am surprised '97 isnt on the list as that was a fantastic race as well (Williams dominating then breaking down, Coulthard winning, Hill almost not qualifying and the Lola's that were 11 seconds off the pace.)

Although, like several others, I would have liked to have had the option of seeing the 2002 race again. That had so much going on and to see Mark Webber score 2 points for Minardi on his debut was just fantastic.

Well for me it has to be the 1994 GP, lets face it, you couldnt get any more contraversial than that. That race and inparticular the Schumacher/Hill incident will be talked about forever.

The first of 7 world titles for Schuey! plus we will get to see all the highlights as its a ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ one! :-)

2009 was a landmark result and probably the best 'feel good' race I've experienced in 25 years of following this sport.

I'd vote for 1995 though if for nothing else to hear Alan Jones refer to Michael Schumacher as an 'arrogant kraut' when Michael and Jean Alesi clashed one final time.

1995 please. Cos it had drama.

Last year was a fantastic formula one moment. After the troubles in the winter, to see Jenson win, with Rubens in tow was amazing. And as much as i love to see these moments, that didnt make it a great race. Having looked at all the options I cant wait to see them all. Would like to see Damon do one on Schumi, and Montoyas spin as well as the Senna Mansell incident. If I am forced to vote I will prob go for 95. I know it looks as if 1990 is going to win, but they are all such good options that it doesn't matter.

PS, Andrew, how about in future you post last years classic gp winner, as well as some new options, to stop people asking for races that are not availiable. Otherwise it will kick off big time when you have to decide on the Belgian options. (98)

personally id say 2009, for a few reasons, first of all becuase it was the start of the best season i have had the pleasure to see, but also because it'll remind me of how good F1 was before re-fueling was removed. ah those days were fun. on a side not i somehow doubt this years GP would ever feature in one of these choices, no points for guessing why!

I'm looking forward to watching the chosen race, it'll be the highlight of next week's race weekend, let's face it, the contempory offering is unlikely to go down as a classic. I'm staggered at how much feeling there is on all the forums about the lack of racing spectacle this year.

My choice would be between 95 and 03. I'm sure 03 would be better, but we're only shooting ourselves in the foot with that choice, so I'll go with 95.

I think that 09 is too recent & too fresh for these votes. The vast coverage that went on last year means a lot was covered then. It's better to look back to a time when we only had Sportsnight edits, or when the programme cut to live because the tape equipment didn't allow re-edits once playing. Getting *that* kind of history online is well worthwhile.

Will we still get highlights of 03 on Freeview? Or only online?

I would like to see the 2003 win by Daid Coulthard, he qualified 11th and went on to win,i dont remember this win but would love to see how he did this.

...and here's an idea.

Why not get the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ incorporate the classic highlights into Sunday's race. They could show the first couple of laps then cut to one of the shorter highlights, then the first, and only round, of pit stops, then the rest of the highlights, including the the extended highlights and then return to the race in time to the final few laps of the race. This way we'll get to see some exciting action without missing any of the action from the race.

1985 please, but 90 or 95 would be great as well.

2003 was good, but we'll get short highlights whatever we say so it's a wasted "vote", and 2009 too fresh really to be a classic now (but it will be in a few years, more for the story than the on-track action.)

1990 - the last era where you did not know who was going to win....unlike more recent years where only a limited number of drivers have the chance to win! Also seeing "Il Leone" is always welcome!

I vote for 1990. The end of that race was unbelievable.

1995 would get my vote. It was trilling to see so many retirements in the race as well as the upset of Morbidelli in the Arrows finishing on the podium. There was also a Sixth place finish for Lamy in the Minardi and Forti just finished outside the points in seventh because Panis's smoking Ligier just managed to last the distance.

There was also the extremely funny duel between Frentzen and Blundell, which resulted in a freindly gesture from the Sauber driver!

2003 was great to because after the bore fest of 2002 F1 needed an exciting race and we got it straight away for the new season! Ferrari fell apart in this race which was great to see after their smashing of the opposition the previous year.

1995 was my first Australian GP experience and so for that reason I vote for it.

Last year for me. Watching history unfold. Just an incredible race with the best start off the grid I have ever seen (Button streaking away) and for me this was just a brilliant race, a brand new team coming in and finishing 1,2? Superb.

2002,definitely!

1990 for me, great race and would love to see the highlights of it again.

I think the 1985 GP should be shown.

The reason being it was the last GP to have 5 World Champions on the grid.

The previous race only had 4 because Prost wasn't a World Champion until Australia.

Andrew, I think the "Classics" feature is really great and long may it continue, but I still can't see the logic and reasoning of including last year's race in this section. I just think it's a wasted option when there are some many past true classics to choose from.

Melbourne 03 for me. Purely selfish reason - i was there and have never seen any of the race on tv!

1996. If that is one of the choices, im confused by the topic and peoples replys. So far i have counted votes for 1985 1986 1990 1991 1994 1995 1996 2003 and 2009???

Either way which ever is chosen it would be nice if you could put the full race on the website not just the highlights. In my opinion the whole idea of highlights is so people who don't care about the sport know what happened. Highlights simply spoil the magic of a full race to a fan like my self and isn't worth watching.

Last seasons race was awesome, I think one of the classic aussie races but I remember that one clearly. 1985 highlights sound very good, that would be my 2nd choice.

The reason I'm choosing 96 is because it sounds like an action packed race, I wanna laugh at Dave crash in the pits, I wanna see Schu battle hard in his 1st season with Ferrari and I love that seasons Williams! one of my fav F1 cars of all time.

I think this seasons race in Australia will be miles better than that of the Bahrain.

That was the era which turned me into the F1 nut I now am. I'd pay good money to see today's drivers in those cars.

For me it's got to be 85 or 90, hard choice to choose between them.

So I'll go for '1990' Just for the driver line up.

You know you are getting old when you see the young pups of today and think, 'What would the old guys do the with todays cars if they had them then'. And I keep thinking 'MORE'. It would have been nice to have mixed MS, LH & FA, up with them. The rest of todays drivers just don't have it. Only the above three can driver a poor car well.

By the way, if its a classic race your after AB, you can't add last years race. One year does not make a classic.

From the choice given, 1990. Adelaide for me was a far better circuit than Melbourne. I remember when it rain, well more like someone upstairs left a tap on. Always so much of it.
Personally though, I think 1993 should be on the list. 1993 ended fittingly with Senna winning his last race with McLaren. Who could have forseen it would have been the great mans last ever Grand Prix win, with months later Senna killed at Imola.

Would say 1990 in terms of Adelaide but happy if 1996 if it has to be Melbourne. So either '90 or '96 will do for me fine.

1995 was used as a picture! why can't we have that one as an option. Seeing 2002 Win would be sad because the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ havn't got the rights to show the full highlights for when ITV had F1, a good race though. I'm not bothered really nice to be able to watch the old races!

Three good races there, 1985, 1990 and 1995, I much preferred Adelaide to Melbourne

It's a difficult one but I think 1990 would just edge it for me, with the Piquet/Mansell battle, which I think was there first since the Williams Honda days of 1986/1987
