Music Is A Means To Strengthen and Revitalise The Spirit
It has often been said…the path to world peace is through a world filled with peaceful people. It’s been my intention from day one, for people to feel that inner peace from the music I play on my show.
Where to begin? I believe that like everything else, when a critical mass of people has an idea, it influences the whole world. This critical mass of people are starting to think that ‘dance music’ is dying. It isn’t. It’s just going through various changes which we’ll all have to embrace to keep up with technological advances. (Besides, rock music is on the up and dance music stems from rock). I believe dance music is still as popular as it’s ever been, but this critical mass of people is looking for more.
We are living in an interesting time, where people want to understand more about other forms of music and more about their spirituality; and why shouldn’t they? We’re getting older; dance music doesn’t do it for us 24/7 anymore, so embracing all forms of music seems to be a sensible option. Dance music allows me to learn about my own spirituality and hence try to influence other peoples’ musical taste and spirituality awareness. I digress, but stay with me and you will see what I’m getting at.
We live in a world which is very primitive in many ways. We can navigate outer space but we have no idea about our inner space. Our technology is supremely advanced, but we still have war, ethnocentrism, racism, bigotry, hatred and prejudice. We need to find solutions to these problems, because in a sense we have evolved to a point where we risk our own extinction. Embracing all forms of music from around the globe and understanding other cultures can influence this, spreading Universal Love!
We are predators and right now we’re the most dangerous predators on planet earth. We cause violence for no apparent reason. We risk the extinction of other species. We desecrate the ecology of our planet. At once, we are the most dangerous species and yet the most holy and creative; the only species that creates music and asks the meaning of God, the only species which is consciously aware. This is the paradox that comes with being human, simultaneously sacred and profane, we are the full expression of spirit. That’s why many people, like me I, are on this path of discovering other forms of music, living and understanding more about ourselves and that inner peace.
But how is individual peace possible in this life of seeming chaos, violence and daily personal challenge? Well for me, music is a doorway to that peace and opening that door for as many people as possible is my musical commitment towards creating an ever growing peaceful public who are willing to listen. It’s a tall order, I know, but all great journeys start with small steps!
Music has ancient and obscure origins and appears throughout history like golden threads of light. There just isn’t enough time in one’s life to discover all forms of music from around the globe, which is why it feels right to take a selection of it to willing ears, offering a musical oasis amidst a world of chaos. Music really can educate and spread Universal Love.
Just as monks, lamas and yogis have used mantras for thousands of years to attain and explore that sacred inner peace, I’m a modern-day spiritual soul, who would like to think I can help an ever increasing number of people who seek solace in music.
I will resist subjecting my musical taste to ephemeral tastes or musical trends, only what’s arisen from my inner vision, not something that is fabricated by image analysts or focus groups, just from the heart ‘spreading love’ through music. Dance music isn’t dead; it’s just changing its look again with more joy and happiness for generations to come.

Post your commentI have always liked that about your music, your resistance to fall into musical trends. it's quite a job, having the whole history of recorded sound to play with.
Your show sparkles with brilliance,

That’s a very interesting read – perhaps a bit too technical and descriptive!! But still captivating.

Word, Pathaan.
Music is essential to the spirit and soul as a nourishing agent. Thru music, we relive our joys and happiness, often leading to catharsis. The cultural wealth of humanity and the world is often expressed thru music. For me, life is anything if not a dance accompanied by music.
Kudos for playing the sonic treasures of the world on your radio show and on your gigs around the world.

Thanks ever so much for such a positive response to my first BLOG for the 成人论坛 ASIAN NETWORK.
But I must make a correction about the comment I have made about dance music. re:- '(Besides, rock music is on the up and dance music stems from rock)'...
This may be read wrongly so just to get it right:-
Dance comes from the drum, but inna more modern sense it comes from Black music and primarly JAZZ.......blues came from Jazz and rock came from the blues and so on and so on...
The marriage of the fusion of the punk spirit, synthpop and dance music came with groups that assimilated the rhythm of black funk music ... that offered an effervescent re-interpretation of black dance music for a high-tech white rock audience....phew !
Many thanks and much love to DADDY K for pulling me up on this.
That said, thanks again for such great feedback x

PATHAAN: I would like to thank you, Kayper, and Bobby Friction for your support. My wife and I still have some pain from our accident and we are undergoing therapy. We are also slowly recovering. 成人论坛 Asian Network including the programe by PATHAAN, D.J. Kayper, Bobby Friction, and Nihal have been serving as a form of therapy [I notice a remarkable decrease in my pains]. Music is the best medicine. Cheers from Miami. Roberto.

PATTHAN: I am listening to the 成人论坛 Asian Network Top Popular Charts because I could not stand the USA and Cuba talking about Castro. In fact USA and Cuba interfered with my attempt to listen to China on my shortwave radio.Lesson to learn is that the world will be at peace with music [especially 成人论坛 Asian Network] instead of politics. PATTHAN: Please play more Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan. I remember hearing his music in 1979 [when I first lived in Venezuela] and then again in the 1990's. It was pure freedom. Roberto. Miami Florida
