Where has 成人论坛 iPlayer gone on the PS3?
With the army of loyal followers we have amassed for the original 成人论坛 iPlayer on the Playstation 3, it鈥檚 no surprise some have been reluctant to let the old design go. But we have been blown away by overwhelmingly positive feedback to the new version of 成人论坛 iPlayer on TV 鈥 initially available on the PS3.
The outpouring is typified by reviews like those from , and and compliments we鈥檝e seen posted from users like: 鈥渉uge improvement,鈥 鈥渟wanky,鈥 鈥渞ather tidy,鈥 鈥渞eally slick,鈥 鈥漣t rocks,鈥 and 鈥渓ooks gorgeous鈥. These really are the greatest reward for the immense efforts of the team who put it together. So thank you all!
However, some of you have struggled to find the new 成人论坛 iPlayer on the PS3, which may have recently disappeared from the TV / Video menu. The reason it has disappeared is that since Sony updated the PS3 firmware to v3.7 a couple of weeks ago, TV services like 成人论坛 iPlayer have required users to install a small app to launch them.
While you don鈥檛 need to be signed in to the Playstation Network (PSN) to use 成人论坛 iPlayer, you do in order to install the link to it in the first place. So, if you鈥檙e not signed in already, select the PSN icon 鈥 second from the right on the XMB - and select 鈥淪ign In鈥 to start the process.
Once you鈥檝e completed this, you鈥檒l find a new rainbow coloured folder under the newly renamed TV/Video Services section of the XMB, called My Channels.
Select this and you should see a massive 成人论坛 iPlayer button alongside those of other TV services. If you don鈥檛 see it immediately, give it a minute or so to update. Selecting the 成人论坛 iPlayer button will re-install our icon in the TV/Services section. Choose it to launch the new 成人论坛 iPlayer from now on.
Finding 成人论坛 iPlayer is one challenge; quitting is also causing some confusion. Unfortunately the Sony framework required to deliver this improved version of 成人论坛 iPlayer on the PS3 relies on the old way of closing apps. Rather than tapping on the PS button to pull up the XMB, you'll need to hold down the PS button for a couple of seconds, then choose "Quit."
Unsurprisingly, like every major launch, this one has not been without its teething problems. But we believe we have now shored up the video distribution network servicing the new HD-capable 成人论坛 iPlayer on the PS3, which briefly buckled a little under the strain of the product鈥檚 success.
If you鈥檙e still experiencing any playback issues, you should check the performance of your own network and ISP via your PS3. Make sure you are signed into the PSN and go to 鈥淣etwork Settings鈥 under the 鈥淪ettings鈥 section on the XMB. Select 鈥淚nternet Connection Test鈥 and leave it a minute to run. The figure you鈥檙e interested in is 鈥淐onnection Speed (Download).鈥
You鈥檒l need this to be consistently over 1Mbit/sec to be sure video can play in 成人论坛 iPlayer. Over 3Mbit/sec is required for HD. If you struggle to get over 2Mbit/sec, you may need to go to the 鈥淰ideo Quality鈥 area of the 鈥淪ettings鈥 section of 成人论坛 iPlayer and select 鈥淟ower Quality鈥 as the preferred video quality to ensure reliable playback.

The new PS3 "Bigscreen" iPlayer is a revelation.
It has catapulted the PS3 from a distant third place device (my laptop and iPad being second and first, respectively) to being the best way to view the 成人论坛's great content in my house. The HD support is seamless, and smoothness of playback is vastly improved across the board, without so much as a stutter as long as my connection holds up.
That's all without mentioning the massively better navigation and discovery, the UI responsiveness, and the easier navigation with a remote.
A superb job from everyone involved, and please accept my heartfelt thanks for creating such a great product.

The old PS3 search used to be a bit dodgy too (not always returning the latest results, or returning results that were expired), but I could get around it by either viewing the 'related programmes' or manually changing the URL and switching to the regular web-based iPlayer. Now if I use the PS3 web browser it tries to load the HTML5 content designed for the plug-in, and doesn't work properly - so my workaround is no longer possible.
So I'm back to watching stuff on my PC in my study - not exactly the family-friendly viewing environment of being sat on the sofa in the lounge (and you may be surprised to learn that I was searching for F1 Practice because my 2yr old daughter likes watching it!). Any comment from the beeb or other affected users?

This is clearly inferior to the old iPlayer SD video quality, and even manages to pause to cache every few miniutes where the old iPlayer did not. We had got to the point where we watched nearly half our content using iplayer, but this will now drop to 'only when we have no choice'. So we are taking a step back then and now suggesting wired, rather than wireless, is the way to improve connectivity. Many people, like me, do not have their router anywhere near their PS3 or TV. The new IPlayer may look like an improvement, but it has now meant this household are unable to use it via the PS3 - great progress indeed ! After 1.5 hours downloading, updating and installing software (which was only made possible by comments on this blog as there are no comprehensive instructions) I was finally able to navigate the IPlayer menus. Not that I wanted to sign up to PSN (remember that Sony's site was recently hacked) as I've no intention of playing online games etc - I've been forced to in order to get IPlayer. But once there it has proven useless. I live in a rural area with a 2mb connection, so HD was out of the question straight away. Even in SD the buffering was appalling - as an example I valiantly watched an episode of the Dinosaur programme. A 30 minute slot that took 58 minutes to watch which gives you an idea of how bad the buffering was. I didn't manage to watch any part of it uninterrupted for more than about 30 seconds. I too am having buffering problems with the new version of iPlayer. Network tested at an average of 2.2Mbps, but it's still buffering on "Low Quality" settings. I've updated the firmware, etc, but still to no avail. Could you suggest a fix please?
What particularly gets my back up about this, is that it rather smacks of poor software development to release something which is causing so many problems to so many people.
As far as I know, the new version of iPlayer wasn't beta tested (or if it was, then the test was woefully insufficient), and there is no option to revert to the older "internet browser" version of iPlayer (that worked absolutely perfectly). This is crazy when the general public are so tech-savvy.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to stream my PC to my TV, so I can watch iPlayer without buffering via that method (but it ties up what the PC is being used for), but it rather makes the new version of iPlayer obsolete in my view.
I'm a massive fan of iPlayer, but there seems to be these issues that are persisting that absolutely need to be addressed for it to be seen as a credible way of viewing on demand.
