Update #17 How I Died

Post categories:

Matt Bolton

Matt has posted a memory.

So. I was in one of the toilets writing some graffiti on the wall when someone burst in. I didn't have time to turn around. I think they might have hit me, or banged my head, I'm not sure.

I suppose that was when I died.

The next thing I remember I was outside the sports hall in the car park. And it was like I was in a dream. All the colours were brighter, like I was seeing everything for the first time. Even ugly, boring things. Like someone had keyed a car in the car park, and I remember staring at that scratch like it was the most beautiful thing in the world. It was weird.

Then I remembered the bogwash. And couldn't remember how I got from that happening to being in the car park. And I got scared. Usually I don't report bullying because if you grass on people, you just get bullied more. But this felt different. I was so scared I just had to tell someone.

I ran up to Steve McKenna and started to tell him that I'd been attacked. He just ignored me and kept walking. He's usually one of the good ones, and doesn't say mean things to me. But he just walked past like I was invisible. I tried a few others, even some that had bullied me. All of them ignored me.

Part of me was thinking that this was just a new form of bullying. Like, they'd all had a meeting and decided that blanking me was the new chinese burn, or something. And I remember thinking that that wouldn't be so bad. Less bruising. I could live with that.

Then someone walked right through me.

It was over quite quickly but it wasn't very nice. It was cold and dark in there. I screamed and the person who'd walked through me gave a little shiver. When I was alive, I'd done that myself, that little shiver thing. People usually say "Someone just walked over my grave." I wonder how many of those were people walking through ghosts and not realising.

I guess it was around this point that I realised that I was dead. I went back to the toilets, expecting to find my body, but it had gone. And I had this odd little moment of hope, thinking that maybe I'd just banged my head and I'd been hallucinating and that I wasn't actually dead at all. And that's why there wasn't a body, because I was still in it.

Then I walked through a wall and bang went that theory.

WELL NOW WE KNOW IT HAPPENED DURING SCHOOLTIME AS HE SAW PEOPLE LEAVING SCHOOL AS I SAID BEFORE MANHANDLING A BODY ISNT GOING TO BE THAT EASY, EVEN FOR A SCHOOLGIRL WITH A BLACK BELT, ONE PERSON STRUGGLING WITH A BODY WOULD ATTRACT TO MUCH ATTENTION SO WAS THERE TWO??

SO EITHER THE BODY WAS MOVED AND HIDDEN, THEN DISPOSED OF OR IT IS STIL WERE IT WAS DUMPED, WHICH WOULD BE EASY TO SPOT AS DECOMPOSING FLESH ISNT PARTICULARY PLEASANT, CHRISTA WOULD HAVE SMELLED THAT STRAIGHT OFF!!
UNLESS IT WAS FROZEN!, DOES THIS SCHOOL HAVE A WALK IN FREEZER?
AND WAS THERE ANY REBUILDING WORK AT THE SCHOOL AT THE TIME?
MATT REALISED HE WAS INTHE CAR PARK? COULD HIS BODY HAVE BEEN POPPED INTO SOMEONES BOOT? THIS WOULD IMPLIES A TEACHER OR SOMEONE WHO CAN DRIVE??
THE WATER ON THE FLOOR WOULDNT HAVE ATTRACTED ATTENTION AS WHEN I WAS AT SCHOOL THEY WERE ALWAYS OVERFLOWING THROUGH AGE OR SOME IDIOT SHOVING PAPER TOWELS DOWN IT.
IT COULD STILL BE ACCIDENTAL MATT HAD HIS BACK TO THE DOOR AND IF SOMEONE BARGED IN, THE DOOR COULD HAVE HIT HIM CAUSING HIM TO GO HEAD FIRST INTO THE TOILET, AGAIN IM SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE!

AND WHAT GRAFFITI WAS HE WRITING ON THE TOIET WALL?

  • Comment number 5.

So Ghosts see the world clearer than 'normals' sort of like hi def

the way Matt goes from his one friend even trying to contact the bullies who made his school life hell.

Then a full description of what it feels like to be walked through, Now the police who ran through Annie didn't shiver was the fact he screamed an influencing factor in making the 'normal' shiver.

Then walking through the wall to realise that he is well and truly dead.

  • Comment number 6.

    4 - There could be a furnace

  • Comment number 7.

IN A SCHOOL? IF IT WORKS THAT IS LOL AND DEPENDING ON WHEN HE DIED THEY MAY NOT BE LITE BUT GOOD POINT.
GETTING THE BODY DOWN INTO THE CELLAR WOULD STILL BE A GOOD TRICK EVEN IF YOU'RE DRAGGING IT.
THEY DIDNT HAVE A WOODCHIPPER BY ANY CHANCE, GRUESOME BUT IT SPREADS THE REMAINS AROUND.

  • Comment number 8.

I think he wrote ROE MO4 (I think that's what it was). It's very clear on the right and it's on the wall behind in the toilet.
Or it could be the scooby doo...
One little step clearer to the mystery...

Something is telling me he is lying about whats going on. Most of it could be true but the "how I died" bit I feel is a lie because i don't think it would be that even though there is logic to it. I really think it was an accident that was his own fault or him just being stupid. He does seem to be a lot darker than what shows

  • Comment number 11.

    Look what's up on YouTube

    Brandy's P.E records

  • Comment number 12.

11-ewan thanks..but I must ask. Why not get Matt to checkc records? He won't be caught.

  • Comment number 13.

Moving objects without anyone there? something tells me the teacher will go mad

  • Comment number 14.

Alright, so someone/thing bashed Matt's head.
Matt got knocked out, fell into the toilet, drowned.
This someone/thing then runs out; in panic? Or to get help to move the body?
Matt then runs through school etc. and through a person(who?), while either this someone/thing moves the body, probably with help, or someone else opens the bog door, sees the body, panics and moves it.

  • Comment number 15.

    13. But Matt could have checked the records at night when there was nobody else in the school.

  • Comment number 16.

About moving the body, I'm trying to think of something that would be big enough to hide a body in but no one would pay attention to if it was being wheeled through the school. But I can't think of anything, can anyone else?

  • Comment number 17.

    16. There are hundreds of cupboards at my old school, And, I swear, most of them are bigger than my old maths room. The Gyp Cupboard, for example, could probably have fitted the entire school in, no problem.

  • Comment number 18.

Hmm, something is up with Matt, he seems too happy right now. But he was angry with Danny when they went to confront him, so there must be allot of anger in him. We need a timeline as someone else said before, I can't remember who, and figure out who was where.
Who is in the background? Maybe that could be a clue?

  • Comment number 19.

15 - Ok fair enough but I don't think he would really know what to do

16 - Have you ever seen one of those things that the janitors move cabinets with, if he was put in a box or something the body could be moved without anyone knowing

  • Comment number 20.

18 - I agree with you that he was really angry and he seems too happy since in his suspect profile he mentions his dreams and nightmares about the bullies, he shows a darker side to himself and that he imagines himself beating them up and now he can scare the living daylights out of them now so even though he is dead he can get his revenge on all of them if (I doubt they would though) Crista and Adam agree to do it for him.

  • Comment number 21.

If you look really closely in the background, on the left, there's Christa... Well I think it is.
(saw this whilst trying to draw matt...on my iPod.)

  • Comment number 22.

21 - jeans, a body warmer, a short sleeve t-shirt and short hair sorry but dont think so

  • Comment number 23.

Just a thought, his first memory as a ghost is in the car park by the sports hall... Maybe he didn't die in the toilet, maybe he was fatally injured there and died in the car park. That's why his body is not in the toilet.

  • Comment number 24.

Something I noticed on the trailer. After Brandy screams at the peeping tom in the grille the camera turns to Matt who is in the grille so I think we will be finding out a bit more on what really happened soon.

23 - What kinda of injury do you have in mind? Because if it was perhaps a lethal hit to the head, chest or back that could possibly kill him.

  • Comment number 25.

okay matt may have died in the toliet but i reckon he was just knocked out in the toliet cause he said he was near the sport hall so thats where i reckon he died/got buried cause its the first place he really paid ttention to and i reckon the killer is either his friend of that teacher (purely because he annoys me)

  • Comment number 26.

25 - Well he said he drowned and when Adam picked up on it he was very panicky so I really think he did drown in the toilet and he's just too embarressed to admit it

  • Comment number 27.

I think Matt might have drawn the scooby doo in the toilet because in episode 1 he says "there's a good scooby doo, I was-" he then pauses and says nothing when Adam tries to prompt him further.

  • Comment number 28.

What if he didn't drown in the toilets but he overdosed in them? It might explain his reticence to reveal how he died, since he didn't want people to know he'd turned to drugs. And if we have Matt dying from an overdose then we have a motive for someone to move the body since presumably the dealer wouldn't want anyone linking the drugs back to him.

  • Comment number 29.

28 - Very good point. A bullied teenager will do near enough anything to escape if they were too scared to tell a teacher so turning to drugs would help them escape even if they knew it was bad for them. BUT he said "not even my parents knew I drowned" then Adam clicks saying "Hold rewind that back, you remember you were drowned?" after that Matt is a bit jumpy trying to find an excuse why he knows he drowned.

  • Comment number 30.

25 - i agree with you in that Matt may just have been knocked out in the toilet. But what could he have been knocked out or killed with?
Was his murder planned or just spur of the moment? I think that there was more than one person involved as Matt is a big boy to be halling around. I think that he was knocked out in the toilet and taken to the car park to be killed or put in the boot of a car to be transported somewhere quiter where murder and diposal of his body would be easier.

  • Comment number 31.

ah ha no i got nothing all i can say is well well well you remember more and wouldent matt just be able to like think of his body and just well pop there ??

  • Comment number 32.

I have to say I'm leaning towards the 'knocked out in the toilet' theory. Perhaps by someone with a blackbelt..?

Annie didn't remember anything about her death, not even that Owen was such a bad boyfriend (let alone that he killed her!). I think the reason Matt's body wasn't in the loos is because he didn't die there. I think Brandy and friends may have knocked him out in the loos and carried him out in a 'one arm around him each' "oh, look at this poor boy he's fainted". Then taken him somewhere to stop him perving. Or maybe Brandy's Dad wanted to stop him checking out his little girl..?

So, not killed in the loos is where I place my bet.

  • Comment number 33.

I reckon it was Steve McKenna... Maybe he actually hated Matt? What does everyone else think to this?

  • Comment number 34.

I don't think any of the obvious suspects like Danny or Brandy actually killed Matt. And good point GillsForever about Annie's death. I think he was taken somewhere else to be murdered by a group of people and that's maybe why his ghost was first in the carpark, do you think? And maybe the last place he was alive wasn't actually in the toilet? I think that Matt may be stalling cos he has friends for the first time and is afraid if they find out exactly what happened to him they won't want to hang around with him anymore. I also think that Christa might be hiding something, but not sure what it could be?!

  • Comment number 35.

i'm wondering if he was even killed in the bathroom? Maybe whoever it was just started to bully him and dragged him outside, people would notice if someone was carryikng around a dead body but no one would care if they were bullying him, maybe things just got a bit out of control?
I feel really sorry for matt.

  • Comment number 36.

I like Black-Rose27 idea about Matt now having friends & they won't want to hang around with him anymore so he is stalling for time but if that's the case then his death was an accident or he would want to find his killer fast! Anyway did anyone else notice the balding caretaker type guy wearing overalls sculking through the school yard? And by the way that steel container where the chat with Brandy took place looks big enough to store a body & who would have access? A caretaker of course !!!

  • Comment number 37.

From the real world two local chemicaly dependents where arested. Returning back to the flat from disposing of a OD in the grave yard. They where using a whelebin to move the body.

  • Comment number 38.

    4. TEAM WOLF can you please turn capslock off?

Many a valid theory, a school kid be it boy or girl would be unable to carry any size body around let alone not be noticed. Even if there was a walk in freezer or anything like that the body and the murderer- if there even was one- would be noticed, school cleaners, dinner ladies, tech staff etc. are always behind the scenes doing stuff and would have deffo noticed.

I reckon he banged his head against the door by accident, when people go into school lavs they kick the doors open to see if there was anyone inside (well they do in my school anyways). and then must've got concussion and walked to the car park for him to have found himself in the car park when he 'awoke'. He might have hurled into the toilet or bin (more likely himself by the state of his t-shirt)due to this concussion.
It happened in silent witness when the girl hit her head on the bus steps.

  • Comment number 39.

@verseandy , Nice idea, But another thought as to where I think the body could be, Caretakers cupboard, because thats who I think it is... but if he got hit in the head, wouldn't he be bruised just like the stain on his top? a map of the school could be helpful, to see how close the caretakers cupboard is to the toilets, or some CCTV footage?

  • Comment number 40.

Bit off topic, but is it just me or is that photo really badly photoshopped. Almost like redeye has been touched up automatically?

  • Comment number 41.

i am very supprised that no one has mentioned the Graffti?

  • Comment number 42.

it was the werewolf, thats why theres no body, coz it was eaten

  • Comment number 43.

42- I completely agree with you. Ghosts in this series and Being Human are particularly inclined to stay near their main object of their death. So why had he been trailing Christa for 3 years? it must be more than just liking because he's had secrets before. Plus, what if the stain down his shirt was because he threw up when he saw Christa change and kill him? Werewolves don't tend to remember much when they transform. Is Matt also trying to protect her because he likes her? We need to see what Matt graffitied on the wall before he died. Perhaps a warning? so many ideas!!

  • Comment number 44.

he was writing i heart chista and then a girl (i think) came in and drowned him :S looks like a girls hand in one of the episodes that drowned him

  • Comment number 45.

Hey, did you notice in episode four that Compton girl has a bite mark on her neck maybe she's a vampire and maybe he really does like her and doesn't want her dead. But who knows???
