January Jamboree

Raj&Pablo | 10:59 UK time, Tuesday, 20 January 2009

The reactions to Chandni Chowk to China have been mixed - the critics have savaged it while the Box office jury is still out. We enjoyed it - its fun, frivolous and as Akshay said on the show - "...leave your brain at home..." Hit or miss the juggernaut that is Bollywood rolls on. The buzz for Raaz - The Mystery Continues is huge although its not a sequel to the megahit "Raaz".Ìý Will Harman's "Victory" be another "Chak De India" and all eyes are on Zoya Akhtar's directorial debut "Luck By Chance" which looks at two strugglers trying to break into the mad bad world of Bollywood. It's going to be an interesting month.

It was great to speak to Sanjay Dutt - who rarely gives interviews - on the show on Sunday. Sanjay spoke frankly about his decision to stand for election in Lucknow, despite his family's close connection to the Congress party. His late parents Nargis and Sunil Dutt were strong supporters. He stressed despite his "Munnabhai" campaign, his first love will always be films. Arnold Schwarzenegger eat your heart out - watch this space. Do listen again.

Pablo: Watched "Slumdog Millionaire" and have to say it is brilliant. The performances, script, story, the visuals of Mumbai, the reality of the slums and Mumbai's TV industry and its feel good, message of hope.Ìý It's a visual treat make sure you go and see it you will be overwhelmed- almost as good as "Love Story 2050".(haha ..Only joking!!)

Watch Adil's interview with Dev Patel, star of Slumdog Millionaire.

A lot of the bad critical reactions to CC2C have the smell of schadenfreude, don't you think? It's like expectations were so high that nothing could have met them...

I was so happy to hear that R&P loved it!

Also, can I start the petition for a two hero masala film starring Akki and Ranvir?

And... can we get some discussion of Veer?! That is one film that is going to be a huge trainwreck and I can't wait!
