Damien RiceThis guy is some sort of lyrical Bhudda isn鈥檛 he? He keeps floating out thess gorgeous, tranquil, talk-to-the-heart songs. And truth be told, I鈥檓 a bit of a geek when it comes to stuff like this. It鈥檚 all because I鈥檓 a bit partial to a good old metaphor, so you can imagine my excitement listening to Mr Rice鈥檚 lyrics 鈥 鈥渞ootless tree鈥? Ah, so much analysis, so little time! And having such a beautifully constructed song like this, I feel we need to stay on his level. So I figured what better way to do so, then to describe a metaphor WITH a metaphor鈥enius!

With that in mind, this song is a鈥OND.

It鈥檚 like watching an (albeit deep) pond surface where you can see the rain drops delicately plop, causing one of those little circle ripples. But gradually the guitar play - I mean, the rain drops, get bigger and heavier until you get this massive 鈥淔*** you!鈥 chorus鈥r downpour, should I say. And this heavier rain does catch you by surprise the first time, but after a while it becomes part of the son...er....pond鈥檚 charm.

Clever wordplay aside, this isn鈥檛 the biggest emotional explosion we鈥檝e had from Damien, despite all the swearing. BUT it still makes the world slow down (rather than stop) when you listen to it. He has this ability to fill you with all the emotion he鈥檚 feeling, in such a cool way, you can鈥檛 help but appreciate everything he鈥檚 got to say.
