Chart Report - 03/02/07
1 - Basshunter - 'Now You're Gone'
ChartSnipe: Is it just me, or has everyone given up on the year already? I mean OK, poor Adele is STILL patiently awaiting her No.1 single, and she's been very polite about it, considering some foreigner pushed in and took it while she was temporarily distracted by the Brits panel (conspiracy!), but surely SOMEONE is prepared to step up and put out a song which is strong enough to knock Mr Hunter off his New Year perch... Easy there, Mr David, I didn't mean you... (FM)

2 - Adele - 'Chasing Pavements'
ChartSnipe: The trick with chasing pavements is not to get put off or confused by a fork in the road, or a sudden dead end. Experienced pavement chasers will tell you these things are an occupational hazard, one that everyone has to learn how to deal with. That thing about stepping on a crack is true though, so watch out! (FM)

3 - Nickelback - 'Rock Star'
ChartSnipe: Proof, if proof were needed, that all you need to do to inject a bit of interest into your flagging moose-rock career (it's all in the bellowing, see) is to unveil a hitherto hidden sense of humour. Of course, once the door to smiley pastures is opened, it's hard to fully shut it again. Give it a couple of years and they'll be doing over-earnest, mooey versions of Weird Al Yankovic's greatest hits. What fun! (FM)
=======================
4 - Kelly Rowland - 'Work'
ChartSnipe: OK, hands up, who bought this because of the original mix and who bought it for the Freemasons makeover? Surely there should be some statistics available on this, in these modern times? Maybe even a fraction that comes with the chart position. So, if three-quarters of the people who bought the song wanted the remix, then Kelly's original is at No.4.75 - 4.99, and the remix is No.4 - 4.74. It make make everything a lot more confusing, but at least it's fair. (FM)
=======================
5 - Rihanna - 'Don't Stop The Music'
ChartSnipe: Should you ever find yourself in the awful position of becoming bored with this song, why not do as I do, and re-imagine the title, using the medium of puns. So far, I've managed to entertain myself with 'Don't Stop Them You Seek' - the sort of advice you'd get from a guru with a very poor grasp of the English language - and 'Don't Stop, The Emu's Sick'. There's also the similar but different 'Don't Stop The Emu Sick', which is gross, but kind of lively if you're really, really bored. (FM)
