Tiny Masters Of Today - 'Hologram World'
The trouble with the video to Marilyn Manson's 'Tainted Love' - in which Manson leads a degenerate army on an invasion of a house party of clean-cut, preppy teen types and turns it into some kind of wild decadent gothic orgy - is that it doesn't have enough zombies in it, or fiery ninjas, or people having their arms ripped off, or adults choking on cat litter. Or actual teenage teenagers, come to that. The promotional clip for this song seeks to redress the balance in favour of The Youth, and as a result, it's a hell of a lot more fun.
Granted, I'm fairly sure a video by Marilyn Manson which features any children as young as these two are would probably get him arrested - Ivan is nearly 14, Ada is nearly 12 - but still, whose party would YOU rather go to?
(There's a really nice write-up on the band at the . They've got contacts!)
It also helps that the soundtrack to the Tiny Masters rave-up contains all of the coolest rock sounds that there are. Namely handclaps, chainsaw guitars, tambourine, distorted vocals, squitty synth noises, bongo drums, screaming, and people counting into the chorus by going "three, two, one GO!". All performed by two super-cool (just) teenagers who would certainly scare the living you-know-what out of My Chemical Romance, given half a chance.
And they have cleverly sidestepped their own vocal shortcomings (melody, for example) by half-rapping, half-shouting their Beck-esque nonsense. This only makes them look cooler, as if they're saying that it's only doofuses who bother to come up with proper tunes and sing them properly. And we all know the most shameful thing that can happen to anyone is being called a doofus by a 13-year-old in shades, right?
They do lose points for beginning the video with "what's your favourite blog?", followed by a scream, when everyone knows the correct answer is "ChartBlog - it's MARVY!", but c'mon, they're only young. They'll learn.
