Ring Action in the Pool

Carrie | 09:57 UK time, Tuesday, 20 June 2006

CarrieWell its day 4 of our second location in Germany. Herford's not bad actually - in typical fashion we have commandered a bar in the middle of town with a big screen and an italian in a square further down where we can watch the footie, drink German beer and eat good food..Having said that Aled and I actually discovered this little place that does the most wicked fish finger sandwiches!! Who could have thought that - Fishfinger sandwiches in Germany?!!!! It was the buisiness...needed after a hectic afternoon in the pool....

Yes thats H20 you may have heard us talk about it on the air this morning...Well let me go into more detail for you...We discovered this swimming pool on the internet and decided to give it a try..So after lunch Chris, his lovely lady Sophie who is visiting, Rach, Mr Rachel, Dave, our engineer Richard and I all piled down..eventually we managed to get in with some gesticulating from Richard that meant can we go for a swim please..Anyway we all got through safely.

There were 2 slides/tubes/flumes whichever you want to call them..So first I went for the Green one - the turbotube..Basically one steep drop and you're down in 10 seconds..not that scary either bit disappointed really..So the black hole next - went down really hurt your back on the ridges but great then joy of joys! We discover you can take rubber rings down it! wicked!!! we all had a go - Richard our engineer definitely wins the prize for being the most competitive..the man had a pb for goodness sake!! Chris won the award for most comedy exit..Almost reached the other half of the plunge pool!

There was a jungle rapids bit too which caused huge amounts of hilarity and the most awesome wave machine-- if you didn't time your bounce right you were wiped out..Dave turned into a ten year old when they switched it on!! We were gutted but we couldn't use the outside bit as there were the most tremendous thunder storms and they were worried about the lightening..They are a bizarre bunch those Germans tho - they charged poor Sophie for extra time as she was drying her hair..A tad harsh we all felt.

Anyway after that a quick slush puppy, back to base..Joc and I went off to discover some shops..It may be hard to believe the Germans do actually have some style...! Joc purchased a few little numbers..I was well behaved - hoping to get back tomorrow before we head back to hicksville!!

Off to Cologne now..don't have a ticket for this one but going to go and watch it in a bar with Rach and Mr Rach!
Over and out for now....

Hello Carrier,
Please also accept warm felt birthday wishes from a ‘bizarre bunch’ national. I have not had the pleasure of listening to your broadcasts but judging by the blog responses, you must be very popular.
Regards from a German colleague…the visual side.
Herzlichen Glueckwunsch

I'm probably not posh enough to be sending you this birthday blog, but I'm trying to be fashionable like the England Squad by having a foot injury, (I have tendonitis and a slight tear to a tendon.) Not quite a broken metertasal (?) but its the best i could afford!!

Best wishes from big time Moyles Brekkie Crew Fans. K & P.

P.S. We have relations who live near the Chelsea training ground if you need to park your Land Rover!!

Hi Carrie,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Saturday.

Hope you have a great day - can't be bad. Out in Germany, with your mates, drinking beer and getting paid for it.

Jealousy is such a horrible thing!

Have a great time and looking forward to hearing all about it.

Hey Carrie, Happy birthday for saturday! Make sure you enjoy it as it could, (and I hope it's not), be the last exciting day you spend in Germany if england don't perform on the sunday. But I know they will! Make sure when you blow out your candles you wish for them to have a good performance.. but don't tell anyone!

Take care,

Katy. Leeds.

I know I've already commented on your blog but I wanted to be the first to wish you happy birthday, albeit 24 hours early! So happy birthday for Saturday! I was going to send you more World Cup stickers to go with the sticker book, but sending stuff to Germany addressed to Carrie, the back and beyond of nowhere with the German horses probably wouldn't work...Have a fantastic birthday, you deserve it. You are a legend!

H2O is the most fun at a swimming pool i've ever had! I went on the exchange from Hinckley last year and we visited there. We all managed to hurt ourselves on the flumes too. The centre of Herford is brilliant and yes we did all play on the kids stuff in the middle of the street on one slightly drunk escapade.
