Whoops

Rachel | 05:36 UK time, Wednesday, 10 January 2007

A very good early morning to you. I've put my title as 'whoops', as I was meant to do the blog yesterday after the show and I totally forgot. Apologies to colleagues, friends and listeners.

Now as it is 5:30am this could be a bit waffly, but anyway....

First of all a very happy new year to you. If you listen to the show, which I assume you do as your reading the Chris Moyles blog (if you don't hey why not have a listen), I had a very happy new year. Mr Rachel asked me to marry him and I said YES! It's all very exciting. You can see a picture of my ring here /radio1/chrismoyles/galleries/221/17/

It was all very romantic, we were on the beach in a very small village in Cornwall. Fireworks were going off, as it had just turned 2007 and he asked me to marry him. My first words were 'are you sure'. I was a little shocked, but now I'm very very excited. Apparently, most girls know exactly what they want to do for their weddings, not me. If you do have any suggestions please feel free to let me know. Aled has already put in a request to be page boy and longman wants to be bridesmaid.

Anyway, enough about me and my wedding, I just got in this morning to an email from Sarah Marshall. She's asked if I can put the answers to the pub quiz online, as sometimes she misses them. So here goes...

1. WHAT IS HOMER SIMPSONS FAVOURITE BEER - Duff
2. WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A COLOURFUL DENTAL PROBLEM BUT IS ACTUALLY A WIRELESS CONNECTION FOR MOBILE PHONES - Blue tooth
3. NAME THE ARTIST – STARS ARE BLIND – 2006 - Paris Hilton
4. WHAT IS AU THE CHEMICAL SYMBOL FOR - Gold
5. WHAT 1980`S TOYS METAMORPHOSED FROM VEHICLES INTO ROBOTS - Transformers

So there you go.

Right I better get on with some work. Have a great day.

Rachel x

Hiya Rachel
I know you've been engaged since New Years, but I only signed up to Radio One today.
I just wanted to say congratulations on your upcoming wedding, and remember to do what you guys want to do for the big day as opposed to being pressurised by others, eg Longman wanting to be a bridesmaid, lol.
I've been listening to your show now for nearly 2 years, and you guys brighten up my morning. I work in an office by myself, and it makes me feel less isolated and more in tune with the world having you guys chattering in the background.
The Comic Relief link with Aled was hilarious today, I can't believe how little shame he has, he's so cool!!

Take care

Heather
P.S. I bought Chris's book!

You actually sound much sweeter on air since you return. One of my best friend started her relationship on New Year's Day under the fireworks too. How romantic! Wish you and Mr. Rachel have a very sweet wedding. My dream wedding has to be one on the green grass and open ground, so maybe the Spurs idea is pretty neat!

All the best to you xxxx

Sorry Rachel, completely forgot in my excitment to say Congratulations on your engagement! It sounds like a wonderful proposal!

My suggestion would be Chris as the MC (you do need an MC at a wedding to make sure everything goes smoothly) and Dave as the DJ for the party at the end. Aled would be wasted as an usher, he should be the wedding planner, of course... (a la Frank in Father of the Bride!)

Be prepared for the next few months ahead to be weddings, weddings, weddings! i got married in sept last year after being engaged for just over a year, it was amazing but remember to give yourself a little time each day not to talk about the wedding because its a massive anti climax after the actual day itself. hope you have a really happy engagement x

Hi Rachel, congratulations! I have to say that the wedding at White Hart Lane sounds like one to remember! Maybe you and Mr Rachel could have a private ceremony for family and friends and then have the Spurs-themed wedding as a sort of blessing ceremony? You get the nice memories and the sentimentality AS WELL AS the 36,000 presents! Everybody wins!

Hi Rachel. Congratulations on your engagement. When my husbnd proposed to me (also in Cornwall) I said "Are you serious?" so you are not alone in making a strange comment upon being asked to marry someone.

Hello,

The spelling in the comments section is at least as shoddy as in the blog itself...eg. Jay Lake (who I assume is at least 19 as they were married 3 years ago!) - chanel?? grate!? nere?! Also, if you are going to complain Steve, try using your spellchecker...agianst?! nobidy!?

Anyway...bye...

Congratulations on your engagement. All very exciting. I got engaged at the end on 2005 and married in Sept 2006. My advice is to keep it casual so you don't get overwhelmed by details, which will only stress you out on the day. We got married at Chelsea Old Town Hall on the Kings Road and then took a red routemaster bus on a tour around London for an hour and a half. We took cool boxes of champers and plastic glasses on board and had a fab time! By the end of the journey everyone was best mates! Other suggestion is to have a small intimate wedding that you remember and then a big party to celebrate with all your friends on another day, maybe next day, next week or next month. So many brides have a big bash and then say they can't remember it.

Enjoy all the planning.

Here's a question for your quiz: How often is the possessive apostorophe misused, like when people go "1980's"?

Anyway, get merried in Scotland, then Mr R and all his English mates can insult history by wearing kilts. It's braw.

I don't agree at all with the person who said blogs can be written in any way you like. The whole point of any communication is to communicate (well, obviously). What I mean is, if you write something that another person doesn't understand, then you aren't communicating anything. Using standard English should mean fewer misunderstandings.

I'm not agianst freedom of expression, but what's the point if nobidy understands you?

I just switched you guys on (just after 9 am) and you were talking about some woman who is NOT going out with my hero Ronaldo -- I am very pleased to hear it, but why were you talking about him? Who is she, and please tell me he is not about to join Strictly Come Dancing?

If Aled wants to join forces on a Ronaldo hunt, I'd be happy to come with him :-D

Can all at the Chris Moyles Show please use the spell check before you submit blogs? Some of the gramma is terrible. For example, quoting from above:

"...which I assume you do as your reading the Chris Moyles blog..."

Spot the mistake - that's right, it should be you're, not your.

I blame short hand text messaging, which I don't think is gr8.
