I am the meat and other things

Post categories:

Good afternoon to you all. Well it's a bright and sunny day in London town, I'm about to finish work for the day so I'm in a good mood!

Now there's few things to cover in the blog today, so hold on tight.

Firstly, Dom was meant to write the blog yesterday and didn't. No doubt he would've mentioned my extremely embarrassing incident on Monday night at the Sony Awards. If you heard yesterday's show, you'd know that I was the victim of falling off my chair. It wouldn't be too bad if I'd had a few white wines, but it was at the start of the evening and I was stone cold sober! There I was feeling all posh in my new dress. Just sitting down, when a random man walked behind me and moved my chair. The next thing I knew was when I was sprawled in the floor. I just remember looking up and seeing Will (greyhead) and Dave absolutely creased up. You'll be pleased to know I don't have a bruise on my derriere and everything is all fine.

Anyway, onto other things....Chris this morning gave out my email address on air saying if anyone had any comments on the show to send them in. I'd just like to say thanks to Nicole Birch who was the first in with some very kind thoughts....

Hello, just to say I work from home and I am lost when you finish at 10, it is like being sat in an office listening to the usual banter and bickering. You are all brilliant x

Nicole is in no relation to me or anyone else on the show. To be honest I was expecting a barage of abuse and it wasn't too bad! However, if you do have any comments or thoughts on the show please let me know no the comments bit of the blog. I'm interested to know if you're missing Celebrity Tarzan?

iamthemeat.jpgAnd finally.....I AM THE MEAT seems to be taking off in a big way. Dave's other half Jayne exposed Dave's softer side last week by saying Dave wrapped himself up in a duvet and said to her 'look I'm like a sausage roll, I'm the meat!'. I'm still finding Dave's reaction hilarious. So anyway, Dom Compagnone a friendly listener has put together a picture for everyone to print out. I LOVE IT!!

Well have a nice day now! Remember I am the Meat!

Rachel

Dear Chris and team. I've been a listener to your show for many years now, the team has changed over the years but i've enjoyed the humour. Chris, your jokes and wit are second to none with Dave feeding of you like you are twins. Dom,for me personally is the comedy genius of the team. You rock Dom. Theres just one thing that annoys me, so much so that i had to switch off last week. Now far be it from me to tell you how to present your show but, Chris. Your reference to people with ginger hair is nothing short of racism(Antagonism towards people of other races). My wife and two children both have ginger hair, my wife is also 8 months pregant and i have no doubt our next child will have the same beautiful red(ginger) hair. My son also loves your show but I know deep inside he is hurt by the stigma you display on that huge stage you have. My 4yr old daughter has started listening to your show while she gets dressed for school.
My wife turned your show off the other morning as well so that our child would not hear this display of ignorance. Please please, stop this. I'm not looking for an apology, just an assurance that you understand how some people, many people feel when you behave this way. This is not humourous. Yours sincerely, Ruairi Mc Givern......
P.S. I still love your show.

I miss Celebrity Tarzan and think it's a shame Scott ruined it. Grr. Such an annoying twit (Scott, that is). The only thing wrong with CT is that I haven't even heard of around half the celebrities. ;-)I would be very upset if Dave's Ramble intro went too. I like familiarity! And I especially like Dave... *cue stalker music*
The only thing that sometimes bothers me about the show is when Chris is mean to someone. Mostly it's all good-natured fun, but sometimes he crosses the line into nastiness (e.g. I got a bit uncomfortable when he was getting at Rachel and Carrie over the low-cut dress). However, it doesn't happen all that often, so I still listen.
The Cheesy Song is fantastic, but I do miss Classical Class (could you have both or would that be classical overload?).
One more thing - '³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Local' is genius. I especially liked the fake callers just before Dom did his radio bit: "I really like that Dominic Byrnes", "He's my favourite", "Oh Dominic Byrne's amazing!". Something about them was just hysterically funny. Could you play them again now and then?

Thanks to all of you,

Fiona

Hi Team!
I listen to your show absolutley every day on sirius satellite radio in Wilmington, North Carolina! I listen in the car on the way to work, and on the computer once I get there. I think you need to come here and teach some American stations what good radio deejay's sound like! Just want to thank you for putting on such a great show, it really helps get me through the mornings! As for celebrity tarzan, I love to sing along to the theme song, but I never know who it is, guess I'm not up on my UK celebrity voices. But it was fun, so I say bring it back! Or maybe switch it up with different noises, like Scott Mills did, the celebrity growler. Anyways, have a great day and keep up the fantastic work!!
Lots of love from America xx

I miss Celeb Tarzan (CT)

I have just relaised that this is why I have been late to work for the past while.

My morning ritual is this: My alarm goes off at 6:55, to listen to the news and the lovely music that intros the show. Then the first little CT bit was at 7:50ish, whilst I would be half asleep listening to the show, that would mean it would be time to get up, the second CT bit, at about 8:10 was when you spoke to the caller was listened to on Sky whilst I had a coffee, or I new I was late for work. Then during the 8:30 news, which is always the same as the 8:00am news, i move from my house to my car, and drive to work. It is at 9am that I jump out of my car to get to work after Comedy Daves Tedious link.

That is my morning. Then I drive the long way home to listen to Mills...great stuff

I do like the show, I have listened since I was in school back in the 90's!, he has changed alot, but so have I, and it is all good. I am a HUGE fan of Radio One. I was really pleased when the Show won the Sony award last year, the whole Radio 1 team worked hard, it was what will in years to come be a defining year. You totally captured the audience that year, where as since then R1 has sought of slackened off, but are now beginning to go in a different direction. It is still all good though.
