The Total from The Chris Moyles Rallyoke
Day 4 of being the stand-in show producer and what a week it’s been!!!
Katie Price got turned away for being late, we learnt more things about the team (like Chris dances naked in his flat when he’s on his own) and we found out that 1.14 million requests were made for our podcast in May – but only 984,000 of them made it through the download.
We’ve also been given an updated total figure for this year’s Chris Moyles Rallyoke! This was when we sang our way around the UK all in the name of charidee. (Enter Aled the Statman!)
In total we received 964,906 texts raising an incredible £732,610.72, add to that what we raised from buckets and t-shirt giveaways and the new total raised is:
£744,206.63!!
WOW!
If you text or gave us some money – thank you SO much! This is an amount we can all be very proud of and I’m sure Comic Relief are very grateful for it.
I believe Rachel’s back on Monday so there’s only one more day left of my alarm going off at 3:50am! So to celebrate tomorrow’s going to be Aled’s Friday Fun! Find out what I’ve got for the team and the listeners tomorrow from 7!
Aled

I donated via the Comic Relief website because I wasn't sure where all the '30p's went from the texts. So you can add another £25 to your total which didn't go through texts or your collections !
I know texts are brilliant because they're a really easy way for people to give to a good cause, but if you had nearly 965,000 texts and 70p of every £1 went to Comic Relief, then the other 30p times 965,000 is nearly £290,000 that went somewhere else.
If you then take into account that I got 'Gift Aid' added to my website donation - ie. the tax I'd already paid on that money is added back on by the taxman, so Comic Relief got nearly £30 - then there's clearly a down-side to text donations.
Can you tell us any more about what happened to all the 30p's, and maybe think about a dedicated website next time for the listeners who would spare the time to give that way...?
