Sorry, I'm a bit slow, does the sitcom pilot idea have to be the Toy Boy one mentioned in the brief? (giving away my amateur credentials here by not understanding the word deliverables)

drshocktopus, you're not alone. I'm afraid I'm equally confused by the TV Sitcom brief. Can anyone confirm whether this is about coming up with totally new ideas or whether the Miriam Margoyles and "Toy Boy" ideas are outline briefs that we have to work to?
    Little help?

I'm with you two. I have no idea what we're supposed to do. I've had a look at the application form and all it mentions is sending the actual 10 page pilot. I suppose I'll just send that; I don't think I could cope with 30 minutes of 'Coming of Age.'

    Hello,
Just to clarify Jessting About are only able to accept sitcom scripts based on the 2 briefs provided.

    1. A vehicle for Miriam Margolyes and Joe Tracini ( and their unique chemistry as seen Coming of Age- though they are not asking for a script for Coming of Age).

    2. Toy Boy.

I hope this clears things up.

    Thanks

Hey, thanks for that writersroom person.
Could I suggest that it may be a good idea to amend the brief to be a bit clearer for other potential entrants? It could be me (and these other 2 commenters) but I've read and re-read the brief many times and I was still confused.
    Much obliged
    Cheers

I'm sorry, is there an option to do either 1 or 2 here or do we have to provide character profiles, episode outlines and the first 10 pages of the script for both 1 and two? Thanks for any help!

  • Comment number 7.

I agree that the brief was highly ambiguous. I eventually understood what was needed, but only after much reading and re-reading it out loud. Then I got it.

I would also ask the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Writers room if they could clarify if the total of 15 pages includes the 6 episode outline, the character outline and the pilot episode. To me that doesn't seem very much to include all of that information, but then I am new and probably a lot green (!).

Also, could anyone please help me to understand exactly what a treatment is? Some say it is just another word for a synopsis, others say it is more specific than that and that actually it will differ depending on who your submission is for.

See I told you - Green.

    Many thanks in advance.
