John McCusker Blog - Part 3
I just got copies of the Under One Sky record in the post today. It's a brilliant feeling seeing the finished version and makes all the hard work of putting it together totally worthwhile. The record will be available on our tour that starts next week and will be out on Navigator records in February.Ìý
I've been doing lots of interviews for the Under One Sky tour. I love doing them as it reminds me just how lucky I am and it also gives me a chance to think about the opportunities I've had so far and the people I have got to make music with over the years. Today in one interview I was asked what was a gig that made me think I would like to play music for a living? It was a concert called the Wellpark Suite. It was written by Billy Jackson and involved 15 traditional musicians including my favourite folk band Ossian, it had an amazing effect on me. I was only 13 at the time but remember thinking how great it would be one day to be able to write a piece of music for such great musicians. Here I am 22 years later getting ready to tour a piece of music that I wrote with 11 fantastic musicians...somebody is looking after me!

At 18th Nov 2008, Keith wrote:I think reports of the "death" of CDs are much exaggerated. People are still willing to buy GOOD CDs for all the reasons you've said. However, people are perhaps getting more cautious about testing the product first and are downloading sample tracks, before parting with cash. There are a number of CDs out there that really only have couple of good tracks on them and a lot of rubbish. Many of us have them in our collections, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that has got more wary over the years.
I don't think the average person is capable of backing up their whole music collection safely and it will only take one disaster to send those punters straight back to a physical form.
