This weekend I'm performing with an international female collaboration called
Seaquins. Check out to hear some live tracks. The lullaby set is my favourite.

We play the on Saturday night and after our first day of rehearsals my head is
swimming with Finnish polkas, atmospheric harmony oohs and groovy tunes, which
my fingers have yet to master!

Seaquins was first put together for a performance at in Denmark last summer, and it's fantastic to have the opportunity to perform the material again for Celtic Connections.

One of the highlights for me is the opening moment where Emma Johansson from Sweden does a bit of cow/sheep/goat calling - real hairs on the back of the neck
raising stuff!

It's really exciting to see how us lassies who come from different countries and
cultures have so easily been able to find common strands within our traditional
music and link them together.

It's also really interesting to see the different techniques that people have to approaching and arranging music.

Most often I'm used to writing and arranging on my own or with hubbie .

But, for this week, it's girl power all the way and what a mighty sound
it is!
