Snoop & The Singhs
On last nights show I commented that I wasn't really feeling the RDB/Snoop/Akshay 'Singh Is King Track' and was surprised at the vitriol in some of the responses received via text afterwards.
My point was that although I hadn't seen the movie I had seen the track on You Tube and felt that it was a 'weak' put together part of the movie for financial (not artistic) reasons.Ìý This was after the hype (in the
...anyway, that's when the responses happened that made me worry for the intellectual growth in our community.
One texter said that Snoop was a Singh and by talking him down I was talking down the whole Sikh community (?)
Another asked what religion I was and said that Snoop was a King like all Sikhs!Ìý Funnily enough the text was signed from "All the Singhs in the
So - I wanted to bring this up and see if anyone else thought Snoop was doing this for the money only, and if you thought he even knows the difference between an Indian, a Chinese and a Mongolian!Ìý And also ask why whenever Sikh's, Muslim's, and Hindu's get a bit angry about anything to do with their religion they believe they're speaking on behalf of their whole community...WHY?

but whoever done his turban could have done a better job and made it tidier
I loved some of the dumb comments people come up with on the show last night and yeh i would be worried by some of the people that was takin offence to the comments. Bobbys point was snoop shouldnt have worn a turban an pretended to be a singh and he only did it for the money. Somewhat valid, BUT he wasnt offending anyone in my opinion and so he did it for money. Everyone wears uniforms for money, Tiger Woods, Beyonce, Jay Z, David Beckham. So Snoops Promoting Singhs for money.
Bobby, question for ya, were all the other actors in the film that worn a turban, were they all sikh? Didnt think so, and so why you pickin on Snoop an not everyone else in the film as well. Point is you dont know what Snoops religious views are. He might share some values of sikhs. What you should do is call SNOOP SINGH on air and ask him.

So what if you have Snoop Dogg on the track and big deal if Akshay is rapping. The track still sounds like it was produced with no effort and creativity.
Even Jazzy B's Rambo is miles ahead of this (because you can tell he actually thought about what he was singing instead of just chucking in any old garbage).
I have never liked bollywood, never have and never will. It stems down to the fact that the movies are lame, the songs are cheesy and the actors bust out in to song n dance in the middle of egypt or the alps when that place has no relativity to the actual storyline.
If you want a proper track from the movie listen to Teri Ore featuring Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Put it this way...Bollywood is like the IPL cricket league...its all about money, no substance and no authenticity....would you ever see a movie in India with a story line like Kung Fu Panda or Shaft? Would you ever see tracks like Kanye West's new Champion vid or Nas' Hero?
Leave the music, arts and movies to the real people.
